FOCUS: Pre-surgical optimization (Prehabilitation) including: Nutrition • Psychological Well-being • Environmental Health • Sleep Health • Exercise • Breathwork

Kevin is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist who is passionate about helping clients achieve their optimal selves before elective surgery or other potentially impactful events. Having provided anesthesia care to thousands of patients, Kevin recognizes that a large majority of people arrive on the day of surgery unprepared mentally, physically, or spiritually to face the challenges ahead—through no fault of their own. Historically, healthcare providers in the surgical field have focused primarily on rehabilitation after surgery, only recently incorporating measures during the immediate pre-operative and intra-operative periods to enhance patient recovery. Meanwhile, in the weeks and months leading up to elective surgery, there has been little to no emphasis on preparing patients to endure and thrive during and after their procedure.

Well, it’s long overdue for this to change!

The emerging field of Prehabilitation empowers clients to focus on nutrition, exercise, mental well-being, and risk factor modification starting 4 to 8 weeks before elective surgery. This approach gives clients a sense of control as they become active participants in their health journey. It’s refreshing for people to realize that their actions can have a direct and positive impact on surgical outcomes.

Recent research has shown that individuals undergoing Prehabilitation:
- Spend less time in the hospital after surgery
- Return to their pre-surgical baseline health sooner
- Have a reduced likelihood of surgical complications, including post-operative infections
- Require less pain medication after surgery
- Experience an improved quality of life

Kevin’s hope is that clients take the knowledge gained during Prehabilitation and integrate it into their everyday lives in the days, months, and years following their surgical procedure.

When Kevin is not promoting wellness or providing anesthesia care, he enjoys reading, hiking, doing yard work, exercising, and spending time with his wife, three children, and two dogs.
